Frequently Asked Questions
How much do you pay?
Our pay is competitive, and includes bonuses and training pay. Most tutors start
at $15.00-$35.00 per hour, depending on experience, subject area and location.
When does tutoring take place?
Most tutoring takes place after school (2:00 or later). However, some special projects
take place during school hours (8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.) Days and times depend on the needs of the student and program.
The more flexible a tutor is with their availability, the more opportunities Principal Tutoring can offer.
Where does tutoring take place?
Tutoring can take place at our offices, in the student's home, at a local cafe or library,
or in a school.
How many hours can I expect?
That's up to you, and client volume. Some tutors prefer to work with only one or
two students. On the other hand, some tutors prefer to work with many students. Tutoring opportunities are posted
to the tutors, and tutors can select how many they would like to be considered for.
Do I have to supply materials?
No! Principal Tutoring and Consulting Services provides all materials and support
services. Plus, we give tutors the option to supplement our materials with their own. At Principal Tutoring, we
appreciate that tutors are professionals, with talents and resources that are to be honored and respected. We
love to truly utilize the gifts of our tutoring staff.
What kind of training will I receive?
Principal Tutoring believes in investing in our tutors by offering comprehensive and
ongoing training opportunities. All tutors attend a New Tutor Orientation and are provided online and in-person
training sessions throughout the year. In addition, we continue to develop our tutor training program, and actively
solicit ideas and suggestions from our tutors.
Will I be paid for training?
YES! Your time is valuable - you will always be paid for training!
How will I report my hours?
Tutors report their hours through our exclusive online reporting center.
What if I have other questions?
Attend one of our Tutor Informational Meetings. First, apply using the online form
(see link above). If you meet our high standards, you'll soon receive information about our upcoming meetings. These
meetings are mandatory if you'd like to become a tutor with us, BUT there is no obligation to join Principal Tutoring.
Simply come to find out more about us and our programs, and we'll get to know you as well. Tutors are asked to demonstrate
a sample lesson so that we get a feel for your teaching style and philosophy, plus we answer any questions you might have
about the position.
